Börek
Börek is a popular savory pastry made with thin layers of dough and filled with various ingredients. A classic version is filled with feta cheese and spinach.
Ingredients:
- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 200g feta cheese, crumbled
- 200g fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds for topping (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- In a pan, sauté the onion in olive oil until translucent, then add the spinach and cook until wilted. Remove from heat and mix with feta, egg, salt, and pepper.
- Lay one sheet of phyllo dough on a greased baking tray, brush with olive oil, and layer another sheet on top. Repeat this process until you have 4 sheets.
- Spread the filling evenly on the dough and then roll it into a log shape. Coil the log into a spiral and place it back on the tray.

- 200g sugar
- 200ml water
- 100ml honey

- Mix the chopped nuts with cinnamon and set aside.
- Grease a baking dish and layer 10 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with melted butter.
